The story behind the art
Harry Patterson is a 21-year-old Communications major in his senior year at Bryant University. Originally born in Dublin, Ireland he moved at the age of 4 years old to Massachusetts. He lives with his parents, younger sister, and older brother. Coming from an artistic family, he was involved in all sorts of creative arts growing up; choirs, bands, musicals, plays, and an all-year art group. He went to college seeking out the broadcast media world, wanting to be a broadcast journalist. Since being at college and taking different courses and being exposed to different creative arts, his dream has changed slightly. He has worked many jobs, however the one that has made the biggest impact on his life is that of his job at the movie theater. His passion lies with TV and Film media with a specific interest in directing and reviewing.
Harry also has his own Letterbox account where he posts all of his reviews and ratings on the most recent films. As for his other outlets for the arts, he is currently in the middle of creating his own documentary short film about passion and love of film and media. Directing is something he finds interesting, and this short film has personal meaning towards his own life. While for the most part he enjoys watching films and reviewing them sometimes, depending on the film, it can be overwhelming. In order to balance, he is also passionate about comic books, and the art involved in them inspiring his own creative pieces. This collection takes inspiration from all his passions and wraps them all into one portfolio.

Artist statement
My art is subjective, as the pieces that mean the most to me are written. As I review films, and create my own feelings towards them, I hope to encourage the same. While not every review may be kind, they are all honest. I take what I feel inside of myself when writing and just put it in the review.
As for my sketches and drawings, they are mainly for my own enjoyment. While yes, I hope when seen people can recognize what has been referenced it makes me feel accomplished. When I watch a film, the review comes first, writing my emotions down. For my visual art, the pieces are typically what I think of when I visualize the movie. I am influenced by the greatest filmmakers of our time, and the visual art skills I take from my father. It is not to create something that is generic and bland, but to take a symbol or sketch and attach it to a film. I do this to create meaning behind the films and reviews that I write.
My art is to process what I have watched and to feel whatever emotions that the media may have provoked. I then take these emotions and try to create something out of them and put pen to paper. My reviews and art are my heart and soul making sense of someone else's art. These pieces of art are how we can connect with people from all over the globe and share our own art.

My artistic approach
My work seeks to bridge the gap between the cinematic and the graphic, drawing inspiration from film. I aim to capture the emotional resonance of film through the dynamic visuals of my own images I see in my head. Whether it's a film review or an original artwork, each piece is infused with my passion for storytelling and visual expression.
