Spider-Man and Batman are heroes because of the acts of service and good deeds they enact for those who need it. Always looking for those who either can’t help themselves or just do it because it is the right thing to do. However, what makes them superheroes are the villains they must stop from hurting the citizens of their respective cities.
While there are many, only two of them take the crown for the worst villain for the Dark Knight and Wall Crawler.
The Joker:
Not much is known about the Joker’s past, or more specifically his alias is unknown. Within the ethos and legacy of the Dark Knight, no one does it like the Joker. A homicidal madman, who believes to be the other half of Batman. He knows exactly where to hit Batman where it hurts and is indifferent to the casualties along the way.
The Joker gets caught and then escapes on multiple different occasions, each time doing something more despicable than before.
Most impactful Decisions:
1. Paralyzing Barbara Gordon
Ending her role as Batman's ally Batgirl. Also drives Commissioner Gordon insane with pictures and proof of the encounter. This leads the Joker to a fatal encounter with the Dark Knight himself.
2. Beating Jason Todd to death
Another brutal attempt at harming Batman's closest ally’s robin. Joker lures him to a warehouse and then proceeds to beat him with a crowbar and then blows up the warehouse. Jason Todd was only 15 years old when he was murdered.
3. Poisoning Superman to kill Lois Lane
More recently, within the Injustice series Joker poisons Superman. Which in turn drives him to kill the love of his life who was with child changing everything. Batman then had to form his own alliance with both heroes and villains to stop Superman from tearing up the planet apart from his tyranny.
The Green Goblin (Norman Osborn):
Norman Osborn is to Spider-Man what the Joker is to Batman. He is the antithesis to the webslinger, deranged and evil only wanting to hurt Peter Parker. He is the founder of Oscorp Technologies, and after experimenting on himself with an unstable drug he became the Green Goblin.
The Green Goblin and Spider-Man have been rivals since Peter became the wall crawler, and every time they clash chaos ensues.
Most Impactful decisions:
1. Murders Aunt May
Not specifically in the comics, but in the movies, he manages to murder Spider-Mans aunt in front of him. Calling his glider towards her while making the hero watch. This changes the dynamic between them causing Peter to become rageful and want to kill Osborn instead of curing him.
2. Apparent Death of Peter Parker and Mary Janes baby
Unbeknownst to Mary Jane and Peter Parker, their child was stillborn. However, in an act of revenge the nurse who delivers the baby then brings the child to Norman Osborn. Which he then takes the child to Europe just to spite Peter Parker and make his life miserable.
3. Murders Gwen Stacy
In a battle between the two rivals, Peter Parker’s girlfriend got caught in the crossfire. She was taken by Norman Osborn and then thrown from the top of the Brooklyn Bridge. Spider-Man attempts to save her, but is too late, she snaps her neck from the fall. Adding to the many souls lost in the conflict between the two rivals.
